In System Preferences/Language & Text/Input Sources I have activated the "Allow different input source for each document" option. so the mac prevents to make it as a default application for video. Open up Finder, navigate to the file in question and right-click it to bring up the contextual. I want to make VLC my default player on Mac OS X 10.10.3.
